Coming off its closest in-state game in years, Bishop Gorman got back to its normal self Friday night.

The Gaels blew out Cimarron-Memorial, winning 56-7 in their homecoming game.

“I was real happy with how we played,” Gorman coach Tony Sanchez said. “We started strong in the first half, and got to get some of our (backups) in for the second half and they did a really nice job as well.”

Russell Booze had more than 100 yards and two touchdowns before getting pulled, the same with fellow running back Daniel Stewart. Jonathan Shumaker and Jaylen Carroll also rushed for touchdowns. Terrence Chambers caught a touchdown pass.

Junior quarterback Danny Hong relieved Randall Cunningham Jr. and completed a few passes before running for his own score.

Jabari Butler had what Sanchez described as a “phenomenal” interception. Chris Lalli and Zack Singer led the stout defensive effort.
