Bishop Gorman High School started selling tickets Monday for its Aug. 24 football game against visiting Our Lady of Good Counsel from Maryland.
School officials anticipate a sellout crowd of 5,000 fans for the 6 p.m. game, which will be televised by ESPN. Our Lady of Good Counsel has 14 players with Division I scholarship offers, including Virginia-bound quarterback Brendan Marshall, and is ranked No. 10 in the preseason by Maxpreps.com. Gorman is ranked 11th.
Gorman split two nationally televised games at home last season in finishing with a 15-1 record. Gorman lost to Armwood of Florida 20-17but beat California’s Servite, 31-28.
On Sept. 14, Gorman will play another nationally ranked foe at home on FOX Sports when it takes on Bergen Catholic of New Jersey. Bergen is No. 17 in the Max Preps poll.
Tickets for the Our Lady of Good Counsel game can be purchased at the Gorman athletic office, 5959 South Hualapai Way. They are $10 for adults and $5 for children/students.
